Swim
Comments: Didn't get any of the nervousness I felt at L2L. Guess a little experience helps out alot. I was kinda bummed about my swim time, because I felt faster then this, but overall it was still an improvement from last time, about 4 minutes. Hopefully next race I can get it closer to 30 min, which is where I should be. Didn't get tired on the swim, but did swim a couple buoys a bit wide due to the sun/sighting. What would you do differently?: Swim faster! :) Transition 1
Comments: Transition went well, no issues. Again, could have maybe been a few seconds faster here, but my wave had to rack in the back of transition area, so it took a bit to run out to the mount area for the bike, so that took away some time too. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Felt like the bike was my strongest leg on this race. The course is fun and fast and lots of downhill to make up for the climb. Kept a good pace after Old Stage, and thru the rollers. Got a bit of wind on Nelson Rd. but nothing too major, just enough to notice it. What would you do differently?: Maybe try to keep a little more aero on the downhills. Transition 2
Comments: This was fast. Absolutely nothing I would have done differently here. Run
Comments: OMG. It was hotter then a furnace out and everyone that I was running by looked absolutely miserable. Started out with my initial 10k pace, but by mile 2 the heat got to me, so settled into my mary pace. Ugh. Not the best run ever, had to stop at almost every water station to get water, not to drink, but to pour on my head. I was imagining all sorts of ways to kill myself by mile 4, and finally decided that drowining in a big tub of ice water would be ideal :) Just concentrated on not being a sissy and walking like almost everyone around me was doing (and I don't blame them, it was HOTTTT!) Wished I could have at least held my 1/2 mary pace but oh well. Really, while I was running, the pace I had felt like about the fastest I could do without blowing up. What would you do differently?: I don't know, not run when it's 90 degrees out maybe? :) Post race
Warm down: Beers with BTer's, including Dime, Dills, Michelle, Stacie, Sara, Steve. Event comments: Overall, a fun race, but not so excited about my run time. I fuel/hydrate well on the bike, so I need to figure out why my times aren't any better then they are. I feel like I shouldn't be that far off of my 10k time, but over 5 minutes seems like alot to me. Not sure how to improve on that, but I'd be happier with a time at least around 48 minutes and definately under 50. Still it was fun, and I did alot better time-wise then L2L. Hopefully the more I race, the better I'll get! Last updated: 2008-06-05 12:00 AM

Got up early and drove with Dime to the race start. Got there a little after 5am. Dime had a great idea of doing the body marking ourselves and avoiding the line so as to get a better transition spot. I thought he was crazy until I saw the line to do body markings. Good call :) Got most of my gear and bike ready the night before, so setting up transition didn't take too long.
Didn't do a whole lot of warmup. My wave started almost 45 minutes after the initial wave start, so it was frustrating just standing there in my wetsuit and waiting. Wandered around and checked out gear and such. They had to delay the race start because so many people were still going thru body marking and were getting there late, in addition.
