Run
Comments: There is a reason it's called "Hospital Hill". This is not a flat course. There are some good down hill stretches, but that's b/c you just climbed some nasty hills. I felt good through the first 8 miles, but the heat and humidity began to set in. I finished strong, though, and although the last major hill tried to take it out of me, I made it through. What would you do differently?: I had originally planned on running the 10k, so I wasn't training for a half marathon. Then I found out that I was doing the Kansas 70.3, so I wanted to use the race as some training. I needed more time for more long runs. Post race
Warm down: The usual death-warmed-over walk through the food/drink line, then stretched really good when I got back to my car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training. Event comments: While I rank this as "too hard", it is nice to say "I ran Hospital Hill". Here in KC, that's worth something. I doubt I'll do the half marathon course again, though. The 10k course last year was a blast. Last updated: 2008-06-07 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:00 to eat some breakfast and wake up. Left at 6:00 to drive to the race. Milled around for 30 minutes, just soaking up the atmosphere.
Jogged for 1-2 minutes just to shake things loose and stretched really good.
