Run
Comments: Enjoyable, but mentally challenging around the lake (didn't realize how big it was until you were about 1/4 way around it. After the lake, the last 3 miles were mostly downhill, which felt great! A had a GU at 40 minutes, and every 30 following. I think I must be fully acclimatized now. My heart and lungs felt great. I tried to pick up the pace around mile 12, but my legs had a hard time turning over any faster. I did have enough gas in the tank for a nice kick the last .25 mile. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. This started out to be just a long training run, with the next longest run this season only being 10 miles. I felt great and actually raced to a PR, with a 10K PR along the way. Post race
Warm down: Stretching and a beer at the expo. What limited your ability to perform faster: As said previously, this was just a training run, and I feel certain I would have been faster if I actually trained for it with a proper taper, etc. Event comments: Nice, smallish race. Well organized, but kind of pricey (75.00 for last minute registration), and you just get a crappy cotton shirt. For the first time in my life, I am actually starting to enjoy running. I just need to get faster, damnit!!! Last updated: 2008-06-07 12:00 AM

First let me say, I feel like a total idiot. I had planned on doing the Run the Rockies Half, which for some reason I thought was today. When we were about to head out to the mountains Saturday, I checked the website for late registration info, and realized the race was actually Saturday. I checked online, and realized the Rocky Mountain half was Sunday, so I went downtown and registered. Glad I did, it was a great race for me.
Woke up at 5:00, dressed, and had 2 pieces of toast with PB&J. Ate a pack of sports beans 15 minutes prior to the gun.
Stood under a tent at the expo shivering. It was cold and rainy.
