Swim
Comments: Found myself off course, not sure how it happened. Probably lost 1-1.5 minutes due to this mistake. Stroke felt good though. Lined up just behind Matt Reed. Pretty cool. What would you do differently?: Try and get a faster start and draft off a faster swimmer. Let them navigate and I just follow. Need to drop my swim time to stick with the lead group. Major priority for next year to hand with the pros in the water. Transition 1
Comments: Slow transition now that I look at my time compared to others. Need to work on this... Bike
Comments: Lower back was hurting. Love my new speedfill hydration system! Legs felt flat. Bike was clunking down the street in desperate need of a tune up....you could hear me coming. What would you do differently?: Not much. C priority race=train through it. Transition 2
Comments: another slow transition Run
Comments: Ouch. Had GI problems on the bike that were much more drastic on the run. Shins cramped up and I stopped running 2 different times for these issues. First 3 miles 26 minutes, last 3 miles were 21 minutes. Things started to clear up a little. Needless to say I could've done it much faster. The last 3 in 21 minutes I was still having GI problems so I thought I was going slow then. Post race
Warm down: Stretch on the wetsand away from the crowds. Go home What limited your ability to perform faster: Sick, cramps, GI, no sleep last 2 days, work/school commitments day before.... Event comments: Course was dangerous, registration too expensive, ran out of race t-shirts 1.5 hrs before race start, overly hyped for an oly thats nothing special...... Last 72 hours I was working on about 12 hrs sleep, 14 hour work/school say the day before, I was sick and I had to get up at 4AM to make it to Malibu super early to get parking and be ready for a 7AM wave start. Also training right through the race and came in with flat legs.... There's all my excuses Last updated: 2008-06-07 12:00 AM
