Swim
Comments: Had a great swim considering how badly I felt. Staye to the far left at the start and cut in around the buoy (turning right). Decided to take it ten strokes at a time and stretch out. Would count out ten freestyle strokes, then take five breast strokes to site and catch my breath. Seem to work well. Passed LOTS of women while swimming freestyle. Am determined to swim all free next event. What would you do differently?: Be healthier. Swim more freestyle. Transition 1
Comments: One of my worst transitions. Couldn't find my bike. Went to the wrong rack. Forgot to take the glide out of my shoe. Was in a fog. Had trouble clipping in. What would you do differently?: Be healthier. Pay more attention to where my bike is. Bike
Comments: Overall not a bad ride for me. I felt good and passed a few women on the hills. Ran out of steam at the 17 mile marker. I can tell that I was sick. What would you do differently?: Be healthy. Get some tri bars. Whenever I get down low, my speed picks up. Was thrilled that I finished the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Once again, couldn't find my rack. Actually went down the wrong row before I figured out where I was. I attribute this to the illness. What would you do differently?: Be healthy. Think about where my rack is..... Run
Comments: Had very little left for the run. Jogged the first mile..then alternated jog/walk every three minutes. Found a woman and kind of talked/walked/had some fun. Oh-well....Wasn't going to place in Age group this time! What would you do differently?: Be healthy! Keep joggging/ running. Worst run to date! Post race
Warm down: Walked around...got some fruit, chocolate milk, and water from cafe (nice!). What limited your ability to perform faster: My health was absolutely a factor. Not only was I unable to train for two weeks, but was not 100% race day. I'm just proud that I did it. I had fun with the women too! Hard not to be competitive, but there's always next year. I love that a 43 y.o. won the race (by a lot). I sill have hope/time! Event comments: Very well run race. Little problem with announcement's at race start, but otherwise well marked. I felt VERY safe of the ride which is always my biggest concern. Cafe after event was first class! Will be there next year...hopefully in better health and can place in age group (top three goal). Got up a little latter than I intended to (5 am vs. 4:30). I had a half hour drive to LLI. Got up, ate whole wheat english muffin with pb and bananna, 2% milk, and a cup of coffee. Had to eat big to get down meds. Have been on anti-biotics for two weeks. Stomach was queezy!
Walked to tranisition from parking (1/2 mile) and then back to the start of the swim on the lake shore. Made a quick loop out to one of the markers and back. Was ready to swim!
