Swim
Comments: Swam well overall. Almost ran into oncoming traffic a couple times since the swim was just between the 2 bouys and 2 directions were not separted by anything. Still veering to the right quite a bit, but I sighted every second breath, so I corrected myself right away. Felt thursty during swim. Transition 1
Comments: Struggled to take off the wet suit. Put the socks on, which perhaps was a mistake as my feet were wet. Took my time and made sure I had everything, ate a GU. Bike
Comments: The way out was into very strong headwind, so my speed was pathetic - I couldn't avearage above 15mph, although the course was flat as a pancake. I couldn't believe how much easier it got once I turned around. My bike computer decided to stop working shortly after the turnaround so I couldn't tell how fast I was going, but I passed quite a few people on the way back that were moving in front of me at the same pace on the way out, which shows how bad I am at fighting wind.. What would you do differently?: Get stronger in the wind and on the hills. Drink more water. Transition 2
Comments: Once again took my time in transition.. Run
Comments: Just got the new lace thingies, whatever they are called. I guess I left too much spare lacing on my right one, so I stepped on it and fell down in the first half a mile! :D That was embarassing. Didn't hurt myself or anything, just got up, tucked away the extra lace to make sure I wouldn't fall again, and went on. Passed quite a few people on the run - that felt good as always! Had a side stitch for a couple miles, but it wasn't bad. What would you do differently?: Drink more Post race
Warm down: Stretched a bit, ate a couple mini bages with cream cheese What limited your ability to perform faster: Do more bricks in my training Event comments: What a great small event! They gave us free picture at the finish! Usually you have to pay $20 for it, that was nice! Also gave away a bunch of raffle prizes - I got a bottle of Hammer gel - can't complain about that :) Volunteers were very cheerful and helpful, people at the finish were super nice and friendly. And of course I qualified for Nationals! Great success overall! Last updated: 2008-06-08 12:00 AM

Drove 170 miles to Moses Lake from Seattle Fri eve with another BTer ultrahip_00. Picked up our packets, got lost looking for our campground, set up our tents after we finally found it. Had some pizza at Pizza Hut, it was the best option we had in that town :(. Didn't get the best sleep, because the other people on the campground were a bit loud.
Got up at 6, had bagel with peanut butter and some OJ. Went over to the Blue Heron state park where the race was. I was a bit nervous - I hadn't raced in over a year, so I wasn't sure how I was going to do in transitions, etc. Didn't do much of a warmup - swam about a 100 yrds.. Water was colder than I expected, so I am glad I got in the water before the race started.
