Pre-race routine:

Had bagel with peanut butter and banana and coffee. Walk /run for 10 min warm up. Left or race site a little before 6:00. Set up transition and headed to the beach. The race was delayed for over an hour due to the fog. They shortened the distance due to fog. I didnt get in the water until a few mins before my wave.I did go back to transition and grabed a GU and a cliff bar as I was getting hungry.
Swim
  • 19m 47s
  • 1000 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Wading start.I started in the back. I could not get out of the "washing machine" Sighting was'nt great due to the fog and people were swimming all over the place. By the last third of the race I was able to get into a regular stroke and break from the pack.
What would you do differently?:

Start on the front of the pack
Transition 1
  • 03m 52s
Comments:

I had set up transition with a jersey and my nutrition in the pockets. but decided it was warm enough to go without. Took some time to transfer nutrition. There were alot of people leaving transition at the same time, they were walking, and I couldn't get around them.
What would you do differently?:

The wether was so variable that I dont know that I could have made a decision about my jersey until the start of the bike. Perhaps having two set ups to choose from

Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

Felt good going into this transition. It was starting to get warm and the sun was out.
What would you do differently?:

Run
  • 1h 05m 14s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was not to walk on the run. I kept a good steady pace. Ran much of the race with someone from Team in Training, she was struggling with cramps in her calf and had to stop several times but caught up with me. It was nice to have someone to run with. I poured water over my head at every aid station.I had to make a "pit stop" at the half way point, I was just getting too uncomfortable. Tough to get a wet tri suit off quickly!!! Got back on the course and into my pace. Tough run along the beach prior to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for about ten minutes. My right leg was sore but not too bad.

Event comments:

I was really hungry after the race. The lines were really long to get food. Decided to pack up and go get food.

Course: I loved this course. The roads were a little beat up in places but the Ride was great. I made it up Devils Hill without a problem...not fast, but no problem. I was happy with my time, but thers a lot of room for improvement. I had developed some pain in my hamstring the day before the race andd it was also causing my middle toes to go numb. I noticed my middle toes were numb around mile 20 so I took it a little easier so as to save it for the run
