Swim
Comments: I was nervous at the beginning, but did a few breast strokes, putting my face in the water and that calmed me down. After that, I did crawl the rest of the way. The lake was CHOKED with weeds, which was rather annoying and I'm sure slowed me down. I got kicked a couple of times, but overall I was swimming my own race the whole time, which was good. After my disaster at Callaway, I needed to have a successful swim here, and I did! Transition 1
Comments: I actually jogged from the lake to the bike, which was great. I felt a little shaky as I was getting changed, so I had a couple of Shot Bloks. Bike
Comments: Worked hard on the uphills, but overall pleased with my performance What would you do differently?: More hill training! Transition 2
Comments: Two more Shot Bloks. Felt fine coming out of transition, no problems with rubber legs! Run
Comments: I was able to maintain a 4:1 ratio from the beginning, and throughout, which was much better than I did at Callaway. Post race
Warm down: Hung around with Clark and a new friend, Glen. Ate pizza! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough hill training or speed work. Event comments: I thought it was a mistake when I saw I was third in my age group, but USAT does it by how old you will be by the end of the year. I got hardware on only my second triathlon ever--woo-hoo!!! I was pleased with my performance overall; it seemed easier than Callaway, even though the distances were greater. Undoubtedly because I didn't use up every molecule of my energy stores in the first two minutes, as I did in the swim at Callaway! Last updated: 2008-06-11 12:00 AM

Got up at 4, drove down to the event. Ate a bagel with peanut butter and a banana. Met up with Clark, Karley, Klara, Savanna and Danny. Checked out the in/outs so I would know where my area was.
