Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:00 to turn Will and got going. Had a bowl of cereal. Stopped at Micky D's for ice lattes. Picked up Mike at Park and Ride. Parked picked up shirts and numbers.
Event warmup:

Took a lap around the block to get the blood going. Peed. Out for some strides. Then an easy block. I think Mike said a mile and quarter or so. Walked to start and lined up towards the front.

Comments:

Started out further up front then most races. Was kinda scared of being run over. The gun sounded and took off. Don't really know where the burst of speed came from but I had to check up and still I was ahead of Mike. Who Mike. That lasted about 100 yards. Hmmm.. maybe I can run. I started to check up a little after the first corner. OK I ran out of my burst of energy. The only complaint in regards to this course is the number of corners. I was passed by a bunch of people but when I heard the 7:10 first split and 14:58 second split I didn't mind. I really didn't look at watch as I thought just run. Any how the polarized lens can't see display. Turn the third side of field and saw the 23:40. I pushed as hard as I could to finish in under 24. Yes.
What would you do differently?:

Push 1 second harder in each mile. I missed my personal best by a second.
Post race
Warm down:

Grab water and walked around looking for Mike. Mike had a good race too. We then walked around trying to find food or something. Come to find out the food didn't start till 10:00. It was 9:00 or so. Decided to head out to find a dinner to have breakfast. Thanks Mike.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Could have been a little better hydrated. I am struggling over all to stay wet enough.

Event comments:

It seemed to be a lot families there as it was Fathers day. Mike and I are childless. Well for this race. We would have stayed but we were hungry and ready to head home to the presents and glory. Madie would have loved the kids race. We went to Durfs for breakfast. I got a little nervous because there was a fire truck in front when we got there.
Wasn't really looking for much out of this race. I thought that maybe I could take it easy, you know just run to have fun. After the pretty good start I figure why waste it. There was a stretch I slowed a little, but got it back in gear and finished strong.
