Swim
Comments: Nice swim. There was a line strung between some of the buoys which was fantastic for navigation. It was fun being one of the first out of the the water, but not fun getting overtaken all day for the rest of the race :) I guess that's what happens when your swimming is a million times better than your biking and running. What would you do differently?: Position better at the start Transition 1
Comments: Since this was my first tri, I just took my time and concentrated on trying not to forget anything. Struggled a little with the wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Not forget to bring stupid shoes for biking on the trip in the first place!!! I have cage-style pedals so it wasn't too much of a disaster but the running shoes still felt a little strange and bulky. Bike
Comments: Enjoyed the ride. Felt fairly strong and controlled. For me it was a decent ride. What would you do differently?: Waaay more time in saddle. Didn't have new bike for long enough to get completely used to it. Didn't drink nearly enough - need to get used to hydrating on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Again, took it pretty easy. Already had running shoes on. What would you do differently?: Should have had more to drink since I didn't drink enough on the bike. Should have done more bricks... Legs felt pretty bad. Run
Comments: I'm a poor runner (for now) so I was just aiming for 10min miles and pretty much got there. Really felt the effects of the heat and not drinking enough during the race. Had to walk several times. What would you do differently?: Get more miles in and improve overall running fitness is the main goal. The more weight I lose, the easier it's becoming. I'll get there. Post race
Warm down: Finally managed to drink a lot. Cheered my friends in and then stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: Had an in-law family trip to Vegas for 5 days 2 weeks out from the race, and came back from it with a nasty cold which I am still getting over. Don't know how much that affected me but I guess a little at least. Couldn't do the training I wanted during the final 2 weeks. No excuses though! Event comments: Seemed very well organized. Loved my first tri and am pretty much hooked. Looking forward to more. Last updated: 2008-06-12 12:00 AM

First tri ever, so got there early and checked on the bikes which we had set up the day before. Set up transition area. Checked everything 5000 times.
Then hung out with wife and friends who were also racing. Basically made each other nervous and competed for who could make the most bathroom trips.
Nothing significant - tried to get moving a little and did some very light stretching.
