Comments: tough bike course with tired legs. But it was beautiful & a suitable challenge for the event. Transition 2
Comments: probably lost a few seconds here, but I'm not overly worried about it. Run
Comments: felt really comfortable coming off the bike. Maintained a 8:30 pace for the first 3 miles. Toward the end of the run the temperature got into the 90's which didn't feel very good. But there were lots of water & ice stations which helped immensely. After mile 4 I really started to struggle with the heat & odd *almost* cramps in my legs. Every time that I landed on a foot that inside quad would trigger in a tingly sort of way. I faded at the end with the heat & fatigue. What would you do differently?: I chose not to eat another gel mid run (although I had them). I think that was a mistake - I really mentally & physically faded for the last 2.21 miles. I don't know that I would have been faster with it, but it could have possibly given me a half minute - and surely would have helped me not hurt so much. Post race
Event comments: really a well run race. Very well supported and run. I'd definitely do it again - hopefully without the 98 degree weather at the finish. Last updated: 2008-06-15 12:00 AM
