Swim
Comments: At the beginning I made a mistake by not looking for the yellow bouy. Then on the way back my sighting was awful and I zig zagged terribly. What would you do differently?: map out the swim better before the race. Work on better sighting when I'm tired. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: It was ok, but I got passed a lot. My swim was the first wave, so all of the young bucks & speed demons passed me like I was standing still. Coming out of the swim I had dead legs & then the false hills never gave me a break until almost mile 20. It was a push. Once I got a downhill I hammered pretty hard & made up some time. What would you do differently?: pre ride (or at least drive) the course Transition 2
Run
Comments: I felt pretty comfortable on the run, although the pace isn't what I'd hoped for. What would you do differently?: Be more familiar with the course. I thought the finish was the same place that it was for my wife's previous race, but they reconfigured it. So when I got toward the end (and kicked to the finish) I found out that I had another .25 miles to go. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm short. I have lead in my ass. I started triathlons at age 40 when I had no experience in swimming, biking or running. I was new to the course and unfamiliar with it. You want more reasons?!?! Event comments: It really was a wonderfully run event and I am tickled that I participated. The volunteers were everywhere & were always cheering us on. It was awesome! There were tons of signs and volunteers directing everything. It was just a fabulous race in a beautiful setting! had a long drive into the site, so ate power bagels, peanut butter and drove.
