Swim
Comments: Not my best swim - about 10 seconds off the last pool swim (in early June) - but there was a line at the pool exit and I played pass & pass back with this guy for the whole swim. Still - judging from where I was last year, I'm doing fine. What would you do differently?: Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. :) Transition 1
Comments: Holy cow - that was slow. I think my T1 at my last pool tri (on the same course) was only 2:20. I didn't feel like I was going fast, but I also didn't feel this slow. The only thing different was that I stuffed some shot blox in my pocket (I don't like to swim with them in my suit). Maybe I shoulda ordered a pizza while I was there? What would you do differently?: Move it, chica! Bike
Comments: I didn't hit my best speed for this course, but I'm still quite happy. I took off strong and my mph was good for the first half, but then when I hit the open areas with the fields, I realized it was way more windy than I thought. Also, since it was hot, I really focused on drinking and taking in my shot blox. What would you do differently?: Just keep biking. Just keep biking. I think I'm turning & riding hills much stronger. That's all good. Transition 2
Comments: Well, I didn't order a pizza in T2. In fact, just a second off my last T2 on this course. What would you do differently?: Nothing - it's all good. Run
Comments: HOT. One bad part of being a slow swimmer in a pool tri is that it is late when you finally hit the run and this course has NO shade. But I knew that. I walked a bit at the turn-around to drink a full cup of water and throw in another shot block. Was able to pass a bunch of guys on the way back in. What would you do differently?: Meh - I wish it was faster, but I'm not unhappy given the heat. Besides, at least the course was measured right this time - and I still broke 30min. Post race
Warm down: Met by Nicole (MDHillSlug) at the finish and then Sugar Daddy & the Monkeys found me. Got some water and waited for the post-race food with the Monkeys. Talked to Judi (Zipp1) and Chrissy & Susan and then ate some Chipotle. The Monkeys got free nerf burritos - how can that be bad. :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat. Taking a vacation 1 week before the tri? Event comments: SetUp Events is always a class-act. Everything from registration to packet pick-up and through the race was great. Plus, who doesn't like Chipotle at the finish line. :) Mmmm. Carnitas! Last updated: 2008-06-19 12:00 AM

Same drill - seems to work. Woke up, ate a couple of Mojo bars & drank a couple diet Pepsis.
Went across the street to the race site, set up transition, went looking for folks, found folks. That's about it. I was so busy talking, I didn't engage in my normal OCD behavior. :)
None. Race started at 7:00 but my swim time was 8:20; I watched the fast people and their fancy bikes.
