Pre-race routine:

Wake up at 5:15 a.m. loaded everything the night before. Packed cooler and hit the road arrived and checked in and talked with other early arrivers.

Did Turbo at Relay for Life for about 20 mins at 11:30 p.m.
Event warmup:

Slow jog for about half mile and about 10 min stretch
Run
  • 17m 30s
  • 1.89 miles
  • 09m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran at comfortable Pace
What would you do differently?:

Probably could have put out some more the first run section. I think I was behind about half of the participants going into the bike section.
Transition 1
  • 41m 58s
Comments:

First Transition took a few minutes to get my helmet on. Had to tell a girl her helmet was on backwards.
What would you do differently?:

Would be nice to have aero bars to place helmet on them.
Bike
  • 40m 40s
  • 10 miles
  • 14.75 mile/hr
Comments:

Should have put a little more effort out I guess the outbound. Thought I did an ok job on teh way back in. Found a few people who passed me and stayed close enough to them to get them at T2 or in the run.
What would you do differently?:

Have odometer to see where on the course I was at and know how much to put out. Drink more or get a gel for potassium
Transition 2
  • 34m 45s
Comments:

Pretty easy Transition get helmet off and rack bike no shoe change.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe should have ran with biking gloves on, that took some time that I didn't have to spend.
Run
  • 16m 20s
  • 1.86 miles
  • 08m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Started finding people to pick off and watching them start to walk or slow down. I checked the time and saw I could make 1 hour and 15 so I went for it and did.
What would you do differently?:

Should have drank more on the bike I calves were craping really bad about the first 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile and then they settled down for the rest of the run. I could have put that much out for the first run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked about 1/4 to 1/2 mile drank 2 16 ounce bottles of water and ate a recovery bar.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lack of experience.

Event comments:

This was my first race and I really didn't know what to expect, how much effort to put out, how much to save ect. I really did enjoy the race I had a great time and was even thinking during the race that I was having fun. Met a few really nice people and just had a great day!
