Total Time = 1h 23m 22s
Overall Rank = 102/170
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 6/11
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast - Weight Control Oatmeal (maple and brown sugar, of course), banana, cup of coffee, bottled water

At Marathon Energy bar on way to race site.
Event warmup:

Stretch, set-up transition, walked around look at the "pimped" bikes wishing I had one - swim warm-up 7:50 a.m.
Swim
  • 15h 15m 55s
  • 547 yards
  • 2h 47m 30s / 100 yards
Comments:

ABSOLUTELY horrible!!! I did everything wrong on the swim start, which snowballed into a devastating swim. I got in the middle of the pack, kicked in the groin, gut, and jaw within the first 10 seconds of the swim. It was start and stop all the way out to the first buoy and I just couldn't relax and catch my breath. Made for a long disheartening swim.
What would you do differently?:

Get to the back and stay there - swim to the right of pack where I have some open water. Start and stop in a lake uses WAY too much energy - I was gassed by the first buoy.
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Most of the time spent in T1 was feeling sorry for myself and getting my "wits" together - I then went to feeling sorry to being pissed off and determined to make up for lost time on the bike and run!
What would you do differently?:

SUCK IT UP!!!
Bike
  • 39h 10m 35s
  • 12 miles
  • 0.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt great through the whole ride - passed about 30 people on the bike - would have liked to have been in the 37-38 minute range, but headwind going out hurt a touch.
What would you do differently?:

maybe push a little more, but think that's all I had for the day.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Took a little longer than expected - grabbed some nutrition - still working on doing multiple things at once.
What would you do differently?:

Try to be a little more efficient.
Run
  • 25h 49m 75s
  • 3 miles
  • 8h 36m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Best I have felt yet getting off the bike - had a nice uphill back into transition on the bike, so I probably got the blood back down in the legs which helped. Felt good throughout the run.
What would you do differently?:

Again, maybe pushed a little more, but proud I made up for the lost time on the swim. Beat my Tremont time by almost 3 minutes.
Post race
Warm down:

walk, stretch, watermelon, oranges, water, powerade - talked with Tri-P folks - Rich G., Reid H., Rich and Ana Breaux

Talked and walked around with family!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Damaged pride!

Event comments:

Loved the race and event itself. Well organized - will def. be back next year - have to make up for that dismal swim!
