Swim
Comments: I walked parts of the course although I wanted to swim (the walkers were moving faster than I could swim so I joined them). I had trouble getting around slower swimmers during the 2nd half of the course when we returned to swimming the lake. What would you do differently?: I would train to attempt to swim a faster pace to stay ahead of the chaos of the main pack. Transition 1
Comments: I could not get my bike shirt on. It took 2 tries. I knocked off my bike computer and had to put it back on. What would you do differently?: practice while winded to speed up my T1 and possibly get a tri suit. Bike
Comments: I love the bike! It is my strongest ability and the most enjoyable part of the event. I did not get passed and was strong on the hills. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: gassed after the bike and my legs were toast What would you do differently?: practice transitions fatigued Run
Comments: I started slow to bring down heart rate. I began to recover at about 2 miles in and then finished strong in the final mile. I did not run much in training and it showed. What would you do differently?: run more miles in training and build a better base for more speed work. Post race
Warm down: iced towel and gatorade provided by the YMCA. What limited your ability to perform faster: T1/T2 and run training. Event comments: I finished my 1st Sprint-Tri 6 minutes faster than my goal! Thanks to all the great folks at the YMCA and those involved with the Y Tri Training Program. See you next year!
