Comments: did the race at Clifford Park. The weather was nice and dry so the course was more rideable than it was on Thursday. They had a timing snafu so the results couldn't be determined - no awards given. I had agreed to stay with H. during her first race. But at the start - she flew out too fast for me and I couldn't keep up with her. I tried and tried to catch her but I never could. She only did one lap as a first timer, while I did two. I had a walkie-talkie so my kids can contact me in case of emergencies. Her son called me asking where his Mom was. I told her she was ahead of me and should be finished. Well, it turns out she dropped her chain at the start and I was chasing the wrong person. She could never catch me. I feel so guilty that I didn't stay with her as promised. I don't know who I was looking at! T. and I were neck-and-neck for a while, but I finally dropped her. I beat her last year, but I don't feel like I am in as good shape this year, so I thought she might pass me. Oh yeah, hubby rode three laps and he didn't lap me! I finished a few minutes before he finished. I was 1 out of 1 in my age category. But 4th out of 7 for all novice women. There was only 1 woman in Sport class, 3 women in Expert, 1 woman in Elite. The fastest woman in Novice class is only 12 years old! 168 racers overall, and 38 dnf's! What would you do differently?: Oh I am just happy to finish this race. This is my least favorite race of the series. Post race
Warm down: Who has time to warm-down when the kids need my attention? Event comments: They had technical difficulties with the timing. The poor RD was bummed out. It wasn't his fault - it was the problem of who they hired to do the event timing. Last updated: 2008-06-22 12:00 AM
