Swim
Comments: Never really got into my groove in this swim. I hit Joanne again!!! What are the odds? I kept going slightly off course, but I did at least stay somewhat tight to the bouys, so at least that was good. I was 15 seconds slower per 100 meters than my big fish race...bummer. What would you do differently?: I need to work on my sighting, bilateral breathing and visualizing the ladder! I think that may help me swim on course better. Transition 1
Comments: took over a minute off of my t1 from Big Fish. Still LOTS of room for improvement! :-) What would you do differently?: I should practice more...I got 3 runs in the day before the event, but weekly practice should help me improve. Bike
Comments: I felt like I did pretty well on the bike. I got a little lazy on the point...I got behind someone and should have been aggressive and passed. I was planning on eating a gel after the nasty hill on Buno road, but it fell off! I did get a great hill climbing tip from Marian's husband that I used and worked for me! It was a bit wet out and i didn't chicken out on the desents as much as I thought I would. That was good. What would you do differently?: Ride the hills more often in preparation. I will be using the tip Kevin gave me on my attack on the hills from now on! It seems to work well for me. Transition 2
Comments: I got speed laces for this event. I just practiced a few times...should be better next race. What would you do differently?: Not much...need to just practice a specific order so I don't need to think...make it more of a habit! Run
Comments: I had no clue where I was time wise as my hr monitor watch battery died on the swim...I knew about what I did on the bike, but that was it. The t2 time was pretty good for me. My pace was slower than Big Fish...Bummer! I didn't really push it hard on the run till the last mile. I took a 1/2 of a gel at about mile 2 and that may have helped me push during the last mile. I really need to work on pushing on the run. What would you do differently?: I need to train to be uncomfortable on the run for more than that last mile. Repeats and intervals are key, but I still don't like um. I hope I can implement some more in my training before my next race 8/13. Post race
Warm down: did the stretching pretty much right after the race. I ate watermellon and drank water right away, but didn't get to my Recoverite concoction till about 40 to 45 minutes after finishing. Still took it and I wasn't very sore the next day. What limited your ability to perform faster: The weather a bit...rainy, but not too bad. My dependance on that stupid HR monitor! I am a bit addicted to it. I do have a good handle on PE, but I may have pushed myself if I had the clock to race against. So close to a MUG, yet so far away! :-) Event comments: I really liked the vibe at this event...Totally different than Big Fish. This race was not a USAT event, and all the rude folks seemed to be some where else, which was cool with me!!! Everyone was friendly, the volunteers were great, the food was even better and it was very family oriented. Overall, a great race at a very challenging park! Last updated: 2008-06-23 12:00 AM

got up at 4:45-ate, had coffee, had all my gear packed the night before-got to Jo's at 5:30 on schedule to head out!
Basically just walked the transitions and checked out the swim and run course after packet pick up,transition set up and a bit of socializing. Our agegroup was the first to go off, so that was kind of cool.
