Swim
Comments: I was relaxed and ready. With this being my first olympic distance race, I did not know what to expect. The first 200 meter went smooth. Nice easy strokes and tried to sight. But just like my first triathlon, I had trouble sighting and had to revert to a combination of freestyle, breast and side stroke. After the turn, I was able to regain my composure and was okay. What would you do differently?: Need to practice OWS or find a way to practice it in a pool setting. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty uneventful. Long run to my bike from the swim finish. Bike
Comments: Since my last race, I really made sure to get some more hill workouts and it paid off. I was constantly passing people on the hills. My goal was 18 mph, so I was happy. Transition 2
Comments: I had trouble getting my socks on. Just seemed to take forever. Run
Comments: Pretty uneventful. Very humid, so rather then try to kick up the pace, held back a bit by listening to my body. I have bonked on marathons when pushing hard in humid conditions, so I just tried to be smart. Post race
Warm down: Gatorade and Endurox Recovery Event comments: My overall goal was to finish in 2:45:00. I finished 2:51:13. For being my first Olympic distance race, I think it went well. I know that the swim is my achilles, and I just need to figure out besides from more OWS, how to practice sighting in a pool (close eyes while swimming, sight an object while swimming). In general, I was happy. Last updated: 2008-06-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:00 am. Had a peanut butter sandwich, some Gatorade and headed to the start to get set up. I was able to get a spot at the end of the rack, so I was happy
Warmed up with around a slow 200 meter swim. Felt great
