Pre-race routine:

Tried to get there early as I know this is a BIG race, but ended up being a little later than I wanted (7:00 am) and didn't get a good spot in the transition area. Oh well, this is a 'for fun' race.

Plus, my breakfast consisted of a Starbucks Coffee Frappacino. I should have eaten better.
Swim
  • 11h 15m
  • 440 yards
  • 2h 33m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

This is my worst event, so I was just super thrilled not to be the last in my age group out of the water. I know it is slow, but I am so happy that I swam and didn't walk (the water is very shallow), and that despite losing my goggles in the first face kick, I did fine!
What would you do differently?:

Practice!!!
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

I had switched out my pedals because the ride is so short, I didn't want to take the time to switch shoes at both T1 and T2.

I thought I was faster during the transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 27h 23m
  • 10 miles
  • 0.37 mile/hr
Comments:

I gained a TON of ground during this part. I was passing people right and left. I went from 32nd out of the water and fought my way to the 10th spot in my AG for the ride! Not too bad!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

Easy enough. Yank of helmet, throw on hat. It was overcast so I ran and rode without glasses. Put on race belt and was on my way.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 21h 25m
  • 2 miles
  • 10h 42m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

Any ground I gained on the ride I lost here. I ran poorly. Not enough Bricks in training. I did much better the second mile, but still really slow.
What would you do differently?:

Brick training.
Post race
Warm down:

Got water, walked a little, then watched and cheered the other racers on.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My training really declined the last month.

Event comments:

I raced this last year and loved it. It is a little crowded but well organized. I will race this again next year.
