Comments:

Started the ride at around 6:30.
I thought I would use this event to figure out my nutrition for my upcoming 1/2 ironman in Boulder. I started off fairly strong up and over Squaw pass and into Georgetown with no stops. Once in Georgetown, I figured in order to keep the momentum going I would just chug another 20oz of "Ensure" that I froze the night before. My plan was to see if I could stomach it. If I could, that would mean I had a plan to get another 1000 calories on the bike in my next big race. Boy that was a huge mistake, I felt like I just drank a bottle of mud and I had the sudden urge to hurl. This slowed me down considerably from Georgetown to Loveland. I was really bumming. I didn't feel better until half way up Loveland pass when I finally felt like I could pick up my cadence.
Once over the top of Loveland, I started to feel better. So I went aero, and motored down the pass. WOW this was fun, I think it was the best part of the ride. The descent definitely invigorated me, and now all I wanted to do was try and make up for lost time.
I made good time getting through keystone and the Dam road.
I felt pretty good heading up to Copper and onto Vail pass. I basically stayed away from the accelerade, drinking only water and popping salt tablets every half hour. Ate a cliff bar every hour, and snacked on cliff blocks every 15 minutes.
I had a fast descent from the pass into Avon (This part was fun on the TT bike), passing several pace lines along the way. I picked up a couple of riders and we formed our own pace line for the last 15 miles. It was a blast rolling through those traffic circles. I made it from Vail pass to the finish in 65 minutes.
Finished the ride at about 4:40.
What would you do differently?:

Drinking too much of that Ensure was really bad. I need to figure out what I can eat or drink on the bike that will give me a lot of calories but won't make me feel sick.
