Swim
Comments: My plan was to go easier than I have before in a race. Never felt out of sorts. Had the same energy at the end as I did at the beginning. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Didn't have any issues. Jogged from the beach up to T1 and found my bike rather easily. What would you do differently?: Move transition closer to where I exited the water? Bike
Comments: I wanted to see if I could keep a higher cadence (90) in a harder gear (thus increasing my speed by 1/2 to 1 full mile). Success! HR stayed around 146. Passed a dozen or so riders and was passed by some seriously fast disc wheeled whipper snappers (i.e. M20-24 and M25-29). Ok, some F30-34 might have been in that mix as well...lol) What would you do differently?: Nothing. I avg'd 21.1 for 23 miles... Transition 2
Comments: better at putting on socks. Since it was wet during the ride, I decided against going sockless. I did get a little confused as to where the actual exit for the run was. Had to get "directions" from my girlfriend. ha ha. What would you do differently?: nothing. 1 min for transition for a non Podium dude was ok by me. Run
Comments: great run for me. My goal was to maintain a 9:00 min pace. Almost hit that mark. Walked the aid stations to drink water. Did something different this time. After drinking the ICE water...I poured the ice into my hands and chewed on the ice. What would you do differently?: maybe skip walking one of the aid stations in order to get under 9:00 min/miles. Post race
Warm down: waited for Chris to finish and waited for more pizza to be delivered. Talked with jcagg90 (John), Tim, Steve, Marci, Chris, Gary, Bonnie, Sabrina, et. al. Spent time with my girlfriend (Angie) who once again proved to be the biggest supporter for me! She always tells me how good I will do, and I've yet to disappoint her (or me)...lol. What limited your ability to perform faster: Who am I kidding. I shaved 40 (yes, 40) minutes off my last Oly time (Toyota U.S. Open, Oct. 07). Guess I'm improving. lol. Event comments: nice race. If Texasman is this same course, it might be something for me to do and see if I can better my time. Plus, I don't have a Sept. race on my schedule as of yet. Last updated: 2008-06-24 12:00 AM

Hung out with my girlfriend and Chris came over and chilled with me until it was time to head out. Left about 30 mins later than planned...
Quickly set up transition and got in line for chip. Chatted with Steve, Marci and Karen. Actually gave a kiss to my girlfriend as the horn sounded for our wave to start swiming. Kind of funny but cool.
