Swim
Comments: This was a great swim! It was quick and I never seemed to tire. I made sure to keep an even pace the last 25 meters instead of kicking it to the ladder. One guy passed me in the last 15 meters, and in the process he made a lot of contact which really didn't bother me. Maybe I'll be okay in my first OWS. All in all I was happy with the swim. It is the only leg of the triathlon that I trained consistantly for. What would you do differently?: Nothing much. Since I've only been in training since March, I think with more training I'll be pretty competitive. Transition 1
Comments: I don't know the time since the T1/Bike/T2 are all lumped together. I was feeling it running from the pool to the transition area. I got the shirt on easily, goggles off, and shoes on quickly. I was in the last rack and I took my bike around the entire bike rack area instead of run down the asile with it. I'm not sure why I did this. What would you do differently?: Know how and where to exit transition next time. Bike
Comments: I really didn't train for this, and it showed. Since I've only been exercising since March, I have only ridden the bike three of four times and never more than 3 miles at a time. For some reason I thought I would be able to just show up and average 18 mph or better :O My bike is too big for me, and I'll have to look into purchasing one. But it did the job and I felt like I worked hard. I got passed alot and only passed one person. That being said, I did enjoy the leg and look forward to riding more in the future. I was experiencing a little numbness the last couple of miles. As of now, this is by far my biggest limiter. What would you do differently?: Train! Transition 2
Comments: Again, not sure of the time. I took the helmet off and changed my shirt. I wore a black cotton tee shirt on the bike and was soaking wet. I changed into a black muscle shirt, and already had the number pinned on. I wore the same shoes on the run as on the bike, so I was off quickly. What would you do differently?: Not much as of now. Run
Comments: It didn't hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would after riding 14 miles for the first time. That being said, I had little left in the tank. What would you do differently?: Probably should have pushed harder. I know I'm faster than my time today. Post race
Warm down: Found my fiance and my mom and sat down next to them. Standing up was a problem! What limited your ability to perform faster: I have only been training since March, and really have only been training for the swim consistintly. I need to invest in a bike and start putting some time in the saddle. I need to run more, but since running is my background, I think this will come along as I run more. I need to develop a more serious training plan. I'll be doing that in the next week and start working at it. Up next is the Cajun Man Tri in September! Event comments: I had a blast. I had a good race considering where I'm at in my training. Hats off to everyone who put on this race! Last updated: 2008-06-25 12:00 AM

Ate half a power bar about an hour before the race. Got to the race sit, set up transition, and then took a quick ride on the bike. For some reason I started stressing about my back tire, and I tried numerous times to add air with a little hand pump. It really wasn't that bad so I racked the bike and put the tri shorts on.
I did an easy 50 meters in the pool and then got in line. I was 34th in line for the swim.
