Swim
Comments: Had a good swim. Swam the whole thing this year without using different strokes. Lifted my head a few times for sighting and when I ran up on people. I actually caught a few people from the two waves ahead of me! What would you do differently?: Last year my time from this swim was around 22 minutes, so shaving off 9 minutes was alright with me. I think I could have gone a bit harder on the way back in. Maybe next year a 11 minute swim? Transition 1
Comments: Had a bit of a run from the swim to T1. I did jog this year instead of waking. Transition went well, could have been a little faster. What would you do differently?: Train sockless and see if my feet can handle it. Run down to T1 instead of jog. Bike
Comments: Had a good ride. Passed a ton of people on the flats out of T1 until I got to the hill. Passed a few people on the uphill and a handfull of people through the corners. I got passed by a few hardcore roadies near the end of the ride. What would you do differently?: I need to improve my power on the bike. I had a good ride but I just don't have the power that I would like. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went well. Change of shoes, helmut off, hat on, grab race belt and Garmin, and start running. I put my Garmin and my race belt on once I was out of T2 and running. What would you do differently?: Not too much. Maybe hustle a bit faster. Run
Comments: Much better than last year. I ran the whole course and passed a few people. I'm not a great runner, so an 8 minute mile was perfect for me. I cannot run much faster than this on my training days. What would you do differently?: Just need to keep training and eventually I will get faster. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around and had something to drink. Talked with AbbieR again. Last year she finished so far ahead of me, she left before I finished. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just need to keep training. It's been one year since I started training and racing and I have made some good progress. We will see what the next year brings. Event comments: Last year my time was 1:23, this year 1:06. Considering I shaved off 17 minutes I am pretty happy. That's a 20% reduction in one year. Next year I would love to cut another 10% off which should get me to just under 1 hour. Overall I had a good time at a fun local event. Last updated: 2008-06-25 12:00 AM

Woke up on time and had breakfast. My stuff was all packed and ready to go, so I headed out the door at about 5:30am. Got to the event site with plenty of time to set up transition, get my number, and chat with AbbieR from BT. I was really looking forward to this race again this year because it was my first Tri ever one year ago and I was hoping to cut a bunch of time off.
No real warmup for me. My HR did get to 112 putting on my wetsuit, does that count?
