Swim
Comments: the gray area for wetsuits....being the I bought a tri-suit the day before but wasn't sure if it was good for water and thinking I wasn't going to do that great I wore a wetsuit.. which turned in me not winning 2nd in my AG anyway, I was in the first olympic wave and was drafting off the guy in first (on the swim) to about the first bouy to which we turn right and it is also when everyone else caught up and I started to fatigue. I did lengthen my stroke which helped but could not navigate for the life of me. What would you do differently?: - not wear a wetsuit when it is in that gray area - sight better - always could draft more Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit, I struggled with the wetsuit a little bit at the ankles but other then that it was a solid transition What would you do differently?: Put alot more bodyglide on ankles Run faster from swim exit to transition Bike
Comments: Those "hills" sucked, decent bike considering I was not expecting to do so well crashed once as I was not paying attention and lost a good 2min there, leg cramped up trying to get back on and had to stretch it out. the second to last turn had a slow down sign, but the last turn did not and tried to slow down as much as possible and went into the grass....lost maybe a few seconds, but i still lost time. What would you do differently?: - train, train, train - suck down more GU as at the end of the race I realized I still had GU left over. Transition 2
Comments: good transition What would you do differently?: Still need to work on my dismounting, and running faster with the bike Run
Comments: legs had the cramping feeling the whole run and then when I hit about mile 5 picked up the pace, hit mile 6 in the shoot to the finish and legs cramped up to almost not being able to use them and so i wanted to finish, so i obviously slowed down and limped in. the runner behind me helped me finish and apparently if it was not for me he said that his run time would not of been that good. Still a better run then my last triathlon a AWESOME PR!!! great run time, started out pacing myself and it payed off in the end What would you do differently?: - train, train, train - stretch alot more before the race starts - BRICKS!!! Post race
Warm down: drank a ton of water, more of my electrolyte mix, had a kashi bar i brought with me and got the free race food from the restaurant What limited your ability to perform faster: my cramped legs, and my 2 accidental run ins with the side of the road and my hydration/gu intake Event comments: good race ended up getting 2 free water bottles and a $25 gift card to TRISPORTS.com good race, kind of sucked I didn't have any friends or family there to support me but I had a good time but just pissed I could of gotten 2nd in my AG.....just a good lesson for me now and will make me want to go faster next time. Woke up at 4:15am had 2 mini bagels with peanut butter, had the daily supplements and 1.5 nalgene bottles of cold water
drove the 50min or w/e to the race site and was there a bit early so had time to prep bike at car before walking to transition area. still early and was not open so walked over to take a piss and then got body marked and into transition for me.
set everything up, and it was nice that my rack was the first/closest to the bike in and out which I knew was going to help me.
Ran 1.7miles stretched a little and then took the bike out and rode about 6-7 miles and stretched some more
