Run
Comments: I really have no expectations today. I was worried when I heard the course is hilly as I am burned out on hilly courses this season. So, I just run a pace that I think I could finish well later in the day. There were some steep short inclines throughout the course -- really hurt my quads. It was a repectable run. What would you do differently?: I need more training so I can trim my 5k time to solid 20mins ..... back to the drawing board. Transition 1
Comments: Running downhill from the transition area to the mounting line was not fun. What would you do differently?: It's about time to put in transition training into my workouts!!!! Bike
Comments: A very dissappointing bike time. I was so worried about the start of the bike course due to the fast curvy dowhill route - I am not a very technical biker so I kinda create some unneccessary anxiety. Well, the bike started badly, after 0.8miles I have bike technical difficulty. My chain came off as I was trying to change into a smaller gear for the hill climb. This caused me at least 2 minutes, maybe 3 ..... it took me about 4 miles to trully get bad into my rhythm. I must be biking below 17mph for the first 4 miles. Not happy. Well, the hills did gave me some advantage as I like hills. I finally started cruising and passing others. This gave me back some of my confidance. I really thought I biked well but the time did not reflect the effort. What would you do differently?: Nothing major -- continue to put in more bike time. Lately I have not been riding as regularly as I should. Also, pray for a smooth ride and no technical failures. Transition 2
Comments: Running uphill with clip-on shoes to the transition area was not fun. What would you do differently?: PUT IN TRANSITION TRAINING INTO WORKOUTS! Run
Comments: I was not looking forward to run the same hilly course again. Luckily this time I was running behind a runner that I have raced with several times. So, I just keep her pace until my legs were ready to work the hills again. I knew I would not finish in my projected time by now. So, my immediate goal was try to catch any duathletes that were in front of me. I was grinding my legs and running effort was laboring. I finally pass a great duathlete/runner(I guess it was not his day) and wishing to see the finish line. Mission accomplished, tough run. What would you do differently?: I think I must be burned out. I have no more finishing endurance in me. Not good. Rethink my nutrition and training. Post race
Warm down: Hydrated and strecthed. Cheered with my fellow tri buddies. Ate. Cleaned up and waited for the darn award ceremony. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and mental preparation. I have not been training as much as I would like due to work. I think my body is trying to tell me to rest. One more race in this season and I shall rest my old tired body. I need a new jump start. Event comments: First race completed at this venue. Another hilly course but it was a fun race. I will definitely race this event again and I will know how to prepare for it. A good day considering not achieving my projected finish time. Next race -- TRI PARK SERIES, Mistletoe DU Cheers!! Woke up at 4am -- prepped and packed for the 1 hour drive to the race site.
Checked into transition area and set up my bike. A very crowded narrow hilly transition area. Body marked and timing chipped. Run a short while and stretched. A good turn out for the DU race. Race started promptly at 8am.
