Pre-race routine:

Get up at 5 am. Eat banana, oatmeal and coffee. Triple check gear. Try not to panic. Yell at hubby for taking too long to get going.
Event warmup:

Look at water course and crack jokes about not ending race in ambulance. try not to panic.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 656 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Slow and steady. That is my motto. Then suddenly heard the next wave crashing through the water behind me. nothing like fear to get you to swim faster!
What would you do differently?:

Swim out WIDE..so I don't get run over by the 85 year old!
Transition 1
  • 05m
Comments:

Took the time to drink some sport drink. It really helped the ride!
What would you do differently?:

Lose 20 years of age, 50 or so pounds and have a bike that didn't say HUFFY on it....

Comments:

Good ride for me. I think I made up for the rest of my slowness here. One note. The race organizers had the course covered except for one area in the village near the entrance to the park. A guy got hit by a car here and I think having a policeman there might have helped avioid it.
What would you do differently?:

peddle faster, grow longer legs, ride a real bike...
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Esy to transition when everyone is done already!
What would you do differently?:

Try to ignore the skinny 26 year old who has already finished, showered and had his breakfats by the time I am in T2.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.1 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

Picture an old hedge hog trying to run up a hill. That pretty much describes it all..
What would you do differently?:

I would have been born in Kenya...
Post race
Warm down:

Collapse in heap at the finish line followed by frantic chugging of water. Start visualizing the six beers and a steak I would be eating in about three hours..

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hmmm..maybe all those beers and steaks...

Event comments:

Well done! Thanks to the lady who (without my asking) threw the cup of water on my back as I ran by...

Seriously..A good race but racers need to be aware the cars in the area either don't get it or are just being hostile to the racers..Be careful on the bikes!
