Swim
Comments: Just learned to swim in Jan. Tried to keep up with others in my wave and wore myself out in the first 2 minutes. The rest of the time I just tried to catch my breath and not loose too many places. What would you do differently?: I will train for a different start. I'll train with my first 4 laps with my head out of the water to get used to using so much energy at the start. Then, work into a nice routine for the remainder. Transition 1
Comments: I was slow - didn't realize I was so slow. Couldn't think very well because the swim was so hard. What would you do differently?: I will have a bucket to rinse my feet. I will wear my pony tail low on my head so that it doesn't need to be adjusted. I will wear the same outfit for the whole race (I put on shorts in T1). I'll be in better shape so that I can jog to T1 and out of T1. I will also practice putting on socks and shoes while standing (quickly). Bike
Comments: It doesn't show in my rank, but this was the easiest part of the race for me. I really enjoyed it and worked as hard as I could to make up time because I knew I would lose some on the run. Rode my mountain bike with the knobby tires... What would you do differently?: I've already purchased a new bike :) I'll train for more inclines. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I thought I was moving faster. I have to change my shoes faster. Also, my pony tail was falling out because of the way I had to move it to put on my helmet. I will wear it lower on my head next year. What did work well was wearing 2 headbands and about 4-5 clips to hold all of my hair back from my face. What would you do differently?: ponytail. will be in better shape to jog with bike and without Run
Comments: Did better than I thought I would. I jogged as much as possible, but I'm not a runner yet. What would you do differently?: I will train harder so that I can run the whole 2 miles next year. Post race
Warm down: Didn't do anything but eat a banana and a few cookies. Also, some water and gatorade. Next year I will do some stretches and not eat the cookies! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Our goal was to finish, so we accomplished that plus! So, I'm very happy with my overall performance. I will train harder next year, so I will improve my time. Event comments: Overall Course is hard to say ~ the swim is too long (because I suck at swimming), but everything else could be longer. made sure that we road, swimmed and walked at least twice a week. We simulated the tri about 6 times prior. We didn't simulate the transition times because we didn't realize it was going to be an issue.
Stretched - that's all.
