Swim
Comments: Couldn't see the yellow buoeys and actually missed the first one and had to double back to go around it. Part of the problem was that I had on yellow-tinted goggles, so I couldn't see yellow at all. And part of the problem was that I didn't get a good look at the course before I started. So I didn't have a mental picture of where I was going. My off-course probably cost me 2-3 minutes! What would you do differently?: Wear clear goggles on overcast days. And get a good hard look at the course before the start. Transition 1
Comments: Uneventful transition. Just tried to put the crappy swim out of my mind. Bike
Comments: Great course. I'd ridden the course about a month before so I knew about the false flats in the first third. Was anticipating two big climbs. Didn't realize that I'd finished the first climb until I was at the top! Really bombed down the hills (top speed 43.6 MPH) with no fear and lots of tight cornering. Badass! What would you do differently?: I probably could have pushed a little more. I kept telling myself throughout the course "You have to run a 10k after this. You have to run a 10k after this." So I backed off quite a bit. Transition 2
Comments: Transition happened so quickly I barely remember it. Run
Comments: Felt strong and confident throughout the race. Mental preparation that I did on the bke really made a difference. What would you do differently?: Go faster!!! Post race
Event comments: Can't wait to do it again next year! Last updated: 2008-06-29 12:00 AM

Brought ice coffee, Costco whole wheat bagels, and PB&J with me to the hotel since I've been eating the same breakfast before workouts for the past 3 months. It was good to have all my TNT teammates at the race. Chatting with them made me forget about the jitters.
Not much time for warmup. Jumped in the lake, swam about 50m and then got in line. Felt a little rushed!
