Swim
Comments: Had a tough start. Was kicked fairly hard within the first 150 yards. Had trouble catching my breath and getting started. Kind of knocked the wind out of me. Struggled to reach the first bouy. Started to feel better and become comfortable during the swim to the second bouy. Felt great and was in the groove druing the final third of the swim. The lake was choppy. Not used to swimming in the waves. Very disappointed in my swim. One loop swim course. What would you do differently?: Adjust quicker?? Transition 1
Comments: Kind of a distance uphill from the lake to the transition area. Took about a minute and a half for me to actually cross the timing mat into transition. I jogged. Not too bad since there were mats down the entire way. No running on rocks, dirt, etc. Slow in transition. My ribs still sore fromt he kick. Had to get my thoughts in order before heading out on the bike. I was still upset about my horrible time on the swim. What would you do differently?: Move faster! Bike
Comments: Rain started within 1 mile on the bike. Thunderstorms complete with wind, thunder, and lightining. The wind was so strong and it was raining so hard, it hurt. It felt like hundereds of bees were stinging. Really rained hard. At times it was so windy I thought I was going to be blown over. I have not previously biked on such flat roads for that amount of time. Very difficult to see. Wow! Flat and smooth. I can only imagine the sppeds the strong bikers could have going if the roads were dry and not slick. Very quiet on the course. No fans (due to rain?? roads closed??). The road from about mile 46-52ish was really bumpy. Other than that, nice flat and smooth roads. The volunteers at the aid stations were great. Bike course was one loop and very well marked. What would you do differently?: No thunderstorm!!! Transition 2
Comments: Everything was wet! Potty stop in transition. What would you do differently?: Move faster! Run
Comments: Maintained a fairly stead pace the entire run. Did walk through about half of the aid stations. Down pour during the first 2 miles and then the rain stopped and it became fairly humid. Quiet on the course. No fans. You and your thoughts. The run course volunteer were great. Very prepared and on top of things. What would you do differently?: No rain. Post race
Warm down: Walk around and eat. Had a little more time to talk with BT people. What limited your ability to perform faster: Rough swim start. Rain & wind. Event comments: Great race. Very well organized and the volunteers were wonderful. Would like to participate in this race again. Last updated: 2008-06-30 12:00 AM
