Swim
Comments: Sucky swim. First OW ocean swim and at least I did it. I had a swim buddy who cheered me on all the way. Still experienced anxiety when I put my head in the water. Got a huge drink of the Pacific at my first wave and got water in my goggles. Breast stroked, but navigated really well. Went right on the inside of the buoy and then was able to free a bit and swam rounding the corner of the buoy and then swam until I could body surf in. When I could stand I did. I kept wondering the whole time, Now why exactly am I doing this? Thankfully the sharks didn't enter my mind or any other part of me. What would you do differently?: I don't know -- somehow be able to swim like I do in a lake or a pool. Not have the physiological reaction I seem to have. Hypnosis? Transition 1
Comments: No transition times are posted yet. But it took me a while to get my shirt on over my wet arms, so it wasn't great. but I was chilly and needed to wear my shirt. What would you do differently?: ? Bike
Comments: Bike was okay. I just really wasn't that into it. Some of the guys are so flippin' intense, speeding by on their whizzy tri-bikes. "LEFT, LEFT, LEFT" I didn't get passed by many women, and I passed a few. What would you do differently?: Probably ride a bit harder. Transition 2
Comments: Again, don't know times, but I felt pretty speedy here. Run
Comments: This seemed hard, but I kept a much quicker pace than usual and didn't wear my Garmin. I'm pretty sure I PR'd in this 5K. Woo -hoo. What would you do differently?: ? Post race
Warm down: Walked around to find a bathroom. Stretched a bit. Walked mostly. What limited your ability to perform faster: My emotional attitude. I used this as a training day race and just wasn't that into it for some reason. Event comments: It was a well organized event,so it gets a 4. They could have had individual water bottles instead of small dixie cups. I'm not a drinker so the beer garden didn't do much for me, nor did pizza at 9:30-10 a.m. The oranges were great though and the volunteers were plentiful. Last updated: 2008-07-01 12:00 AM
