Run
Comments: I was hoping for a 3 hour finish and I started the first few miles right on target. The course is exciting with bands playing and lots of people. I started passing lots of people between miles 4-9. I settled into a good pace and felt awesome. Around mile 10, I started getting slower and slower. I had to resort to run/walk around mile 11. I didn't get too upset because I knew I had plenty of time to finish the race, even if I had to resort to only walking, which thankfully, I didn't have to do. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I had a mental downturn on the last few miles, as I was surrounded by fast walkers and I am a slow runner. I need to remember to just do my thing and not be influenced by others around me. Post race
Warm down: I crossed the finish line and walked through the very long finish area. I couldn't find my Mom and Dad, so I went to our meeting place and sat on the grass. Once my parents found me, I had my finisher's medal engraved and then walked back to the car. Once I got home, I showered and had an ice bath. What limited your ability to perform faster: My mind. I tend to have a lot of problems with the mental aspect of races. Even though I complete the various distances in training, I am plagued with thoughts during the race that I can't complete the distance. Event comments: PDR is a great race with lots of city support. It is always very well-organized. My only complaint is that the post-race food selection could be larger. This is a race that I will be at next year. Last updated: 2008-07-03 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:45. Left apartment at 5:30 for a 30 minute drive to downtown Philly. Parked in usual spot on 31st Street. Walked across Spring Garden Bridge to race start. Drank 1 bottle of Infinit. Used the Porta Potty right before the lines started.
None. Why waste valuable energy running before a run?
