Comments: I started out at a quick pace for the first mile. After the split I asked myself if I could hold this pace? I was going to try and see what happened. Cardiac Hill kicked my ass and it was because the pace was too fast at the beginning. By the time I reached the 3 mile marker my legs felt like logs and my sneakers were 20 pound of bricks. I then struggled for the next 3.2 mile to get to the finish line. I managed to finish with a half way descent time but not my best overall performance. I should be okay with this sinceI'm trainig for an IM and not this short distance. What would you do differently?: I would probably start out a little bit slower than pick it up on the backend. When I mean slower probably 8:15 or 8:20 minute mile. Post race
Warm down: I walked through the crowd of runners then removed my chip and got my t-shirt. I then meet some friends at the family reunion location. What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't do enough speed work for this race. Got up early as always and did my normal routine. I drank my Boost on the way to pick up some friends who wanted to carpool. We got dropped off by my personal driver Harold (AKA: Anica)
I stood in my corral while waiting for the start of the race. I did my GU 15 minutes before the race start.
