Swim
Comments: very happy with this swim, I cut my previous time in half so I can't ask for more. I couldn't see it but my wife said I did a lot of passing and no getting passed. What would you do differently?: I did get off course a little and tend to veer left for some reason so I'll have to work on that Transition 1
Comments: no problems here, as planned I didn't have the shoes in the peddals as I stills have much practice to do on that What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: again a huge improvement over my previous time by cutting nearly 12 minutes off and increasing my avg spd almost by 6 mph. this is still my weakest event however and I was getting passed by other guys the whole race. What would you do differently?: I just need to spend as much time as I can in the saddle to get my avg spd up....though for now I'm pretty happy with 19.2 mph Transition 2
Comments: not much to say, it went fast and easy. What would you do differently?: my run time may have suffered from not spending 30 seconds stretching? Run
Comments: could have used a quick stretch before heading out as my hammies were pretty tight. wasn't able to get any water heading out of T2 and did feel a little cramped. speed was good though and only got passed twice. near the finish line another competitor in my age group was right in front of me. I was pacing him to sprint and hopefully pass him at the finish. he realized what I was doing and took off so the sprint started early, right at that moment my shoelace came untied and I wasn't able to make an all out effort so he won the sprint.....it was fun anyway. What would you do differently?: the volunteers handing out water weren't the greatest but it's up to me to be sure I'm hydrated enough so I need to work on that. Also I'll be ordering a pair or 2 of Yanks this week. my speed was well above where I train though so no complaints. Post race
Warm down: walked around and drank lots of water and sports drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: hydration, shoe laces and not enough training on the bike. Event comments: it took an effort to realize that even though I went from 2nd AG to 17th AG that this race was a huge improvement. All my times were respectible and huge improvements which show how much all the training I am doing has paid off. Last updated: 2008-07-04 12:00 AM

up at 3am and on the road by 3:30, luckily my wife drove the 2 hours so I could catch up on sleep since I didn't get to bet until 10:30 the night before. at the race I mostly just listened to music, chatted with other athletes, walked around and gathered my thoughts
only some light stretching
