Swim
Comments: It was impossible to keep my breathing pattern I had planned and practiced. There were too many bodies in the way, for the whole course. There were a lot of people floating on their backs probably due to the extremely choppy conditions. I was pretty thrilled just to keep my cool and stay calm. What would you do differently?: I don't think I could have done anything differently. A lot of it was condition of the race and the water. Transition 1
Comments: I had originally planned on trying to do this transition in 2 minutes or less, but that was before I saw how long the run was from the water to the transition area. Given the distance, I am ok with this time. What would you do differently?: Transition seems to be my strongest of the parts of a triathlon. Bike
What would you do differently?: go faster! Transition 2
Run
What would you do differently?: If I had realized how close I was to the finish, I would have started pouring on all I had left sooner. The finish kindof pops up on you unexpectedly. I had some left-over unfortunately. Post race
Warm down: breathing mostly, then went for a swim (splash around really) to cool down What limited your ability to perform faster: I went out to prove to myself that I could do a tri, not to go faster. Now that I know I can do it, I'll start working on speed. I beat my goal time of 2:00:00 with a 1:41:20 finish, so I am very happy about that. Also, I was really hoping not to be last, and I wasn't so that made it a special day! Event comments: Other triathlons that I've been to as a participant and as a spectator have had booths, vendors, etc. There weren't any, so if you go, be prepared, you won't be able to buy any body glide or socks when you get there! Otherwise this was a very well organized event. Great food too! Last updated: 2008-07-06 12:00 AM

If you go and stay in the dorms, bring breakfast. I brought high carb muffins, Yop yogourt drink coffee and orange juice. That worked. No need to get to transition early for a good spot, as the spots are predetermined.
I ran for about 15 minutes then stretched. More importantly I got myself away from the crowd for a few minutes and got myself mentally focused and prepared to face the swim without freaking out as I had in the only other triathlon I'd done to date (a mini-sprint or tri-a-tri)
