Swim
Comments: The swim wasn't bad. This was my first open water swim w/ people & I couldn't get into a rhythm. I placed my est 100m at 2min when I signed up & that was low. I was hoping to do the swim around 1:40/100. I kept swimming over people & couldn't find open water. At points I was barely swimming b/c I couldn't get past folks. I tried to go wide on the course to find some clean water, but was consumed by the weeds. Goggles also fogged. What would you do differently?: Get some more experience swimming in a pack & estimate my time better to get a better swimming seed. Buy anti-fogging spray. Transition 1
Comments: Never practiced, so I can't really complain about the time. Tried to fassen my helmet with one hand. Didn't work. Dropped the bike. Haha. What would you do differently?: Practice. Should easily be able to cut some time off here. Bike
Comments: Pushed it pretty hard on the bike. I was aiming to average around 20mph and came in right around 19.9. I was happy with the bike. Got on and passed a good deal of people in front of me. Set my own pace. Had a gel at the turn & sipped on some Accelerade. What would you do differently?: Not much. Just train more to get faster and stronger. Transition 2
Comments: Much better than T1. Racked my bike and got shoes...went on with ease. Ran to the exit and was on my way. What would you do differently?: Why was I fooling with my race belt just standing in front of my bike with my shoes on!?!?!? Inexperience at its best. Next time I'll get the shoes on and get the rest while I run. Run
Comments: My weakest leg. I wanted to go under a 9 min/mile & did that. With that said, I could've pushed harder and ran faster. I still had some gas at the finish. Inexperience again. What would you do differently?: Run harder next time. First Tri, so I didn't want to burn out half way in so I took it on a moderate pace. I'll push it harder next time. Post race
Warm down: Found the girlfriend who was nice enough to get up on a Saturday at 6am & gave her a kiss & thanked her. Got some fruit, water and more Accelerade from my bag. What limited your ability to perform faster: I could've swam faster if I had open water. I just need to figure out how to avoid & move around/past people. Event comments: For my first race I couldn't of asked for more. Lake grass was annoying, but the Race Director doesn't have control over that. There were people all over the course cheering and it was put together very well. The goodie bag was nice. I'll be back next year to improve my time!!! Last updated: 2008-07-08 12:00 AM

This is my first Tri, so I tried to keep it similar to my pre-morning workouts. Ate a powerbar, bagel & sipped on some Accerade. Drank some coffee too. Probably ate to much. Could've done without the bagel. I felt a little nauseated on the swim.
Rode around & stretched.
