Swim
Comments: The swim course couldn't have been accurate, the guy that got out of the water first had 16 minutes, close to the world record. It was fine, I was nervous about being kicked and beaten, but it never really happened except the occasional bump. Some guy died towards the finish line. Very sad. Of course my family had to witness the whole thing. They needed more kayaks out there, maybe even some scubadivers would have been nice. From what I hear it took them forever to get him out and spectators had to do it. What would you do differently?: I would kick less, I got out and my legs were feeling it on the bike. When you get nervous, you forget everything you practiced. My feet kick by habit, so I have to really concentrate to get them to stop. Transition 1
Comments: Being new, I pinned the number to the back and front by accident. It was awful. What would you do differently?: Get a tri belt! Bike
Comments: It took a while to get my legs back, but it was a good bike course. I did well on the flats, hills were tough. What would you do differently?: Maybe get some aero bars, not sure. I averaged 19.4 MPH, so maybe I should slow down a bit and save it for the run. DON'T KICK WHILE SWIMMING! Transition 2
Comments: this one was quick. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Maybe not drink so much. Run
Comments: The hills at the beginning were tough! Killed me. I died on the run. I walked alot because of the heat and just exhaustion. What would you do differently?: Train for the run harder. I had no legs left. Post race
Warm down: Drank water, got pretty bummed over the one guy's death, talked about the race with my brothers who also ran it. What limited your ability to perform faster: The run. I need to train harder at it. The swim and bike felt great. Event comments: It was fun, mainly because my family and brothers families were there. Will definitely be doing it next year. I though it was fairly well organized, except they needed more people helping with the swim to help people having problems. I wouldn't say the organizors are to blame for the death, he probably had a heart attack, but more kayaks would help relieve my wife's angst at least for next year. Last updated: 2008-07-11 12:00 AM

It was my first tri, so I just watched people, tried to stretch, gawked at the cool bikes.
Took a quick swim.
