Swim
Comments: The wave I was in was VERY large. I am estimating close to 100. I went right up front and center. It was a wading start...and off we went. I was in front until the second bouy when I saw a women from two waves ahead of me, holding onto the bouy looking terrified. I stopped and asked her if she was OK. She assured me she was and I told her I could help her get in but she refused so I started to swim again. I was in a large group and someone grabbed my ankles..BOTH of them...that made me a little angry so I kicked them off...had a little more body contact and was able to escape quickly and head toward the finish! What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I did this race in the spring and improved my T1 time by 40 seconds!!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I had a tough time getting my shoes clipped in in the begining. Once I was in I was fine. The first rolling hill my chain fell off...I've never had this prob before. Got it back on but not before I was passed by 4 others from my age group!Again had trouble clipping in UGGHHH!! Missed not having my aero bottle and having to reach down and get water from the cage.Did my best and finished ok. What would you do differently?: Check equipment more throughly before a race!! Transition 2
Comments: Got my bike racked quickly ...on with the sneakers. I heard Lisa call out "where's Marianne" and I was able to catch up with her and run!!! Run
Comments: Ran with Lisa for about 2 miles which was great!!! I was so happy to actually be able to be with her for part of her first race. Then I continued on at my own pace. I was really tired by the end..crossed the finish line and saw my family cheering...It was great! What would you do differently?: I need to improve my running...especially on hills!I looked at my time from a race I did on this course in the spring. I raced 2 minutes faster in the spring...but the run on that race was alot shorter so I actually did better this race..it was a relief to know I wasnt going backwards!!! Post race
Warm down: Walked around with friends and family, had some food and drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I was a little tired from racing 3 weeks in a row Event comments: Hats off to these race directors. They did an incredible job getting this course ready for 600 women, many who were new to the sport. They also held clinics and meetings leading up to the race which I think helped prepare many of the women.Much more organized than Danskin. I will say that they need to have more swim support in the water for that kind of race. They had kayaks but no swim angels. Last updated: 2008-07-13 12:00 AM

Got up at around 6:00am had coffee, a bagel and a banana. I thought I had everything laid out the nite before, but couldnt find my aero bottle. Fussed about it for a while...and then moved on with a water bottle for the cage. Packed up and headed to the site with Al and Lisa. Got to Hopkinton and set up transition rather quickly.
Put on the wetsuit and Lisa and I went for a quick swim out to the first bouy and back. Water was nice with a little chop.
