Swim
Transition 1
Comments: I pulled wetsuits. I think I was the only person who considered that we were getting a mix of urine/sand/oceanwater on ourselves. Not a single pro stopped. I watched a few of them get out on their own. It was impressive. Wetsuit strippers definitely saved time for most people. Just lube up your ankles. Also we did not rip a single wetsuit. Some people were concerned that we would. Also it does not speed up the process if you shake your legs around. Just get your wetsuit down to your hips, sit down and we can yank it off. What would you do differently?: Cover my eyes better when there is a wardrobe malfunction. I think it only happened once. Bike
Comments: Just yelled at people to dismount. Third time I had a chance to see people I knew. Three people lost bike shoes at transition. I was able to get 2 of them back to the owners. No idea who lost the third. It was nice seeing a lot of expensive bikes come in late. One guy lost his seat at mile 12. He stuck it in his pants so that he could sort of crouch sit. That was the most impressive rider out there. I saw no mountain bikes and 1 guy on a fixed gear. Quite a few older bikes out there as well. What would you do differently?: Put sunscreen on earlier than I did. Fortunately I prevented burning. Transition 2
Run
Post race
Event comments: I had a ton of fun volunteering. There were almost too many volunteers. The volunteers were not well organized. Many people wandered aimlessly. I worked the dismount line because only 1 guy was when I arrived. Breakfast for volunteers was great, I think lunch for racers and volunteers was lacking. I was also hoping for more stores or vendors to have booths. There was virtually nothing. The point-to-point aspect worked out well. Everything was bagged quick and placed into larger bags. I helped haul these bags onto a Ryder truck. The bags were very heavy since they contained wet wetsuits and everyones bike pumps. I was surprised how quickly everything was taken down. Less than 2hours after the swim finish there was no real sign we had all been to the beach in the morning. Last updated: 2008-07-13 12:00 AM

Slept crummy, woke up showered, headed out. I got hungry on the way. I found a Dunkin Donuts that was closed. Went to McDonalds and had to order off their 'late-night' menu. I got a coffee and some sort of burger.
Walked around, got my volunteer shirt. There is where I was doing body-marking. I got to mark most of the pros and meet them. That was kind of neat, too bad I did not recognize any of them.
