Swim
Comments: Not a bad swim for me - they only traffic I encountered was while rounding the bouys. The rest of the swim provided adequate space for swimming. I was able to crawl stroke the entire time with a single breast stroke every now and then to make sure I was on course. What would you do differently?: nothing. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was farily slow for me, but I was exhausted from the swim. I rinsed my feet and put on sicks and riding shoes. I even took a few extra seconds to put on my headphones figuring I would make up that time by having inspirational tunes. What would you do differently?: nothing - until I build up more swim endurance, it will take me a little longer in T1 to recover. Bike
Comments: My biking is by far my weakest leg of the Tri. I was passed by many, many riders along the way. It seemed like there were a lot of really good cyclists at this Tri. I just tried to stay smooth as best I could. Once we hit the main highway (about 7 or 8 mile mark) and the course flattened, I was passed by far fewer riders. What would you do differently?: Nothing on race day, I just need to train harder on the bike and get more confortable and stronger with it. I have only been riding for a year, so I have a lot of room to improve. I also need to find a hilly area to train. Transition 2
Comments: My T2 was very fast as I had a great rack spot right near the chute. I ripped off my bike shoes and slid into my running shoes with ease. I estimate I was in and out in under a minute. I exited the chute with a few racers who had flown by me on the bike. What would you do differently?: This was only my second triathlon and for the second time I forgot to remove my helmet until I was out of the chute. Feeling like a donkey (again) I unclipped it and tossed it in the grass next to the sidewalk. After the race when I went to retrieve it, it was gone - and wasn't turned in anywhere. Oh well - maybe that will teach me. Run
Comments: Had a great run - I passed many (but not all) of the racers who passed me on the bike. I was not passed by anyone during the run segment. I spotted a racer in my age group coming up on the last turn toward the finish. I ran by him and he began to kick hard, passing me by about 5 feet. I kicked it and caught up to him and we were shoulder to shoulder in a full out sprint for the last 60 yards or so. It was painful. We both passed a third racer who also began to sprint so we both kicked it up to 100%. I edged him by a couple steps and then we congratulated each other on a good finish. What would you do differently?: nothing on the run- my best leg by far. Post race
Warm down: just some stretching and a much needed Red Bull. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bicycle bicycle bicycle! Event comments: They really need to add chip timing to this race - I would gladly pay the extra cost since it already cost $65 on race day. What's a few extra dollars to be able to rate your performance? Otherwise, it was a fun race and plenty challenging for my level. Last updated: 2008-07-14 12:00 AM

Drove 1 hour to Carrollton from Atlanta, late registered, got marked and listened to some music after becoming sick of the 37 straight Journey songs played on the PA system.
None - just some light stretching.
