Swim
Comments: The first half was not that great. I really zig-zagged back and forth around the course. After I turned at the buoys I made a point of sighting every 6 strokes and I counted. Wow, what a difference actually looking up makes! What would you do differently?: Sight the entire time. I really need to work on this. Transition 1
Comments: I always seem to have a bit of trouble getting in my clips at the bike mount. I think my adrenaline is just so high and everyone is watching, I just freak out. What would you do differently?: Next season I'm going to try to have the shoes on the bike. Bike
Comments: I felt like I had a great bike leg for me, with the exception of losing my chain on a hill because of a stupid gear change. Fortunately, it went back on quick. I kept a nice pace, didn't overdo it. I had 2 gels, water, and electrolyte drink on the bike. What would you do differently?: Not lose my chain on a hill. I would ride this the same as I did, but I think this is the leg I can improve on the most. I just need to be out on the bike more. I'm faster than last year, so I just hope the improvement keeps on happening. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition for me. I had a long run from dismount to my rack, but everything went smoothly. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I felt fantastic. I passed one person in my age group and got passed by very few women overall. I pushed on the last mile, so that hurt a bit, but overall I felt great. I loved how we got to see so many people. I tried to cheer people on as I went by. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Rejoiced with my husband. Walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: I thought this was a well-organized race. I think the post race food and drinks could have been a little better, though. As for myself, I loved doing this distance. Even though officially I was 4th in my AG, I got 3rd because the person who won my AG came in 3rd overall. Even still, I was solid MOP, which is an accomplishment for me. I felt great the whole time and had so much fun!! Last updated: 2008-07-14 12:00 AM

Up at 5:15 at hotel. Ate a powerbar and a banana with some gatorade, got a coffee on the road. Parked with everyone else and walked the 5 min. walk to transition. This is always one of my favorite parts. How many other crazies get up before dawn to workout besides me? This race was also exciting because, besides being my first olympic distance, it was the first race that my husband has come to.
Walked around. Got in the water for a few minutes just to get the shock out of the way. Swam a few strokes then had to get out for the first wave. Had a gel about 20 minutes before race.
