Sunny
Total Time = 1h 28m 21s
Overall Rank = 57/118
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 3/6
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast at 6 AM - regular breaky of toast with vegemite and apricot jam(not on the same piece!). 1 lge cup coffee. Attempted to drink 32 oz of gatorade before race. Only got part way through. Stomach couldn't do it - pregnancy will do that to you!
Event warmup:

None. Quick spin to see if chain was on properly (changed wheels out before race and altered brakes).
Swim
  • 14m 16s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

The start was weird. There was a siren and then we had to jump in about 10 abreast and just take off and swim. If the person in front of you didn't swim off right away, you were stuck with the clock ticking and couldn't jump in. But swim was good given I have not been in the pool at all.
What would you do differently?:

Same as always - train!
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Must have been OK. I had the fastest transition time in my age group.
Bike
  • 44m 16s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.27 mile/hr
Comments:

This was a hard course for someone who has not trained on the bike. I was probably lucky to go as fast as I did. I just didn't have the power to pop over some of the larger rollers.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Felt a little slow. Couldn't get feet in shoes very easily.
Run
  • 29m 44s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I actually thought I was running OK so I am a bit surprised at my time. Oh well.
Post race
Warm down:

Food :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training and the fact that I am 7 weeks pregnant. I am only running at the moment so I am not swim or bike fit. But if you look at my ranks, I was higher in the swim and bike than on the run! So, despite the heavy training for the run, I still suck at it!

Event comments:

Great race. It was a first-time race and they did a terrific job. Challenging course. I cannot wait to train for it again and next time I hope to get some biking in before the race.
