  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

Killer swim! With the current, down steam, water was downright refreshing. One jellyfish sting BWTF, it's a triathlon!
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 04m 58s
Comments:

Was worried about bike start with 2 transitions and swimmers returning, but wasn't bad. Steep climb out of T1.
What would you do differently?:

Bike
  • 1h 23m 57s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.76 mile/hr
Comments:

Some decents were so damn fast I had to get out of earo, too damn scary!Return had headwind which sucked. It was supposed to be down hill with tail wind. Tried to pace the return to save my legs for the run. One gel at start and one 20 minutes before end.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more hills, up and DOWN!
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

pretty simple, helmet and bike shoes off, running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 1h 06m 11s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Can you say "Crash and burn"? The climb from T2 (sea level) up 72nd to Central Park is a killer. Reminded me of some tough backpacking accents! Made it to Central Park and about mile 3 hill the wall. Stopped for fluids and ran to next fluid station and repeated to finish. Central Park is no run in the park. The clockwise route seemed to be one big accent from mile 3 to finish. Crowds at finish does motivate. Forgot gel at mile 3.
What would you do differently?:

More hill work in heat and humidity.....
Post race
Warm down:

Sat on bench with cold wet towel on my head. Fluids and oranges.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat and humidity and lack of hill workouts.

Event comments:

Well organized but NYC is too hectic. Getting in, noisy night and leaving.
