Swim
  • 19m 50s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

The river was much cleaner than I thought it would be. The start was rough, as no one can swim straight and everyone bumped each other. I should practice sighting. It felt like I was in the water forever, but I am pretty proud of my performance for my first real open water swim.
What would you do differently?:

concentrate on long strokes and my breathing
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Shorter distance to run than last time, which was good. Huge tree right by my rack, which helped me find my things quickly.

Skipped bike gloves
What would you do differently?:

Tighten bike shoes more before I head out. Had to tighten once I was on the bike.
Bike
  • 1h 01m 18s
  • 15.53 miles
  • 15.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I pushed really hard on this ride. I wanted to see what I could do on a flatter course.
What would you do differently?:

save a little bit more energy for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

Forgot to untie and loosen my sneakers before I set them out in the transition area. I sat down so I could do this. Got race belt and visor and got moving.
What would you do differently?:

untie laces!!!
Run
  • 38m 42s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I was miserable. My legs weren't so wobbly, but hurt right from the start. The soles of my feet hurt, and my calves were really tight from the bike. I walked on and off in the first mile and after I hit the water station Ifelt a bit better. Once I got to the turn around I started to get more into the groove and slogged through it.
What would you do differently?:

Hmmm, train more. I really slacked off between my last race and this one and my run time didn't improve at all. And my last run was full of hills!!!
Post race
Warm down:

light stretching, hugging family, water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not enough training.

Event comments:

They did run out of food, which is a bummer. I was in the second to last wave, but there should have been enough for everyone.

Plenty of very helpful volunteers and amazing women.
