Overall Rank = 116/237

Age Group Rank = 16/42
Pre-race routine:

Get up without waking anyone else! Drank a bottle of accelerade, 1/2 PB bagel, couldn't eat anymore.

Event warmup:

Dynamic warm ups and then sat by the lake trying to get my head into the game.
Swim
  • 33m 39s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

Ouch... quite the swim. The olympic women went first. I thought great, this will be better. HAH! It was worse! Ended up getting whacked in the face. Bloody nose, goggles off. Wasn't bad though, only took about 30 s to get reorganized.
Thought I was swimming well, but apparently not.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This was slow, I had problems with my suit again and I couldn't believe that my swim was 33 min long, I think I kind of gave it up at this point already.
Bike
  • 1h 23m 42s
  • 38.5 kms
  • 27.60 km/hr
Comments:

I should have/could have gone harder on the straights, but I didn't.
Technical course for me. By the 3rd loop I was getting the hang of it, but by then the olympic men were on the course and it got a little scary. Quite often went through these corners with a pack of men at above 30 kmph.
What would you do differently?:

Practice taking corners at high speeds!
Transition 2
  • 00m
What would you do differently?:

Start thinking more positively!
Run
  • 59m 7s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 55s  min/km
Comments:

whoo hoo... look at that run time. Not a keeper.
I was really hot and I just wanted to finish so we could go to marble slab. Took several walk breaks, but very short ones.. like 30s.
This wasn't fun.
Post race
Warm down:

Short swim in the lake, change of clothes and then ice cream at marble slab. MUCH BETTER!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I should have quite while I was ahead. I didn't really want to do this race, I couldn't get my mind there and I was thinking very negatively. Should have recognized that I was a little burnt out.

Event comments:

I had a few issues with this race. It's a great organization, the course is okay, they have lots of great prizes. But, many people were commenting that the course distances (on all segments) were off. Not sure I'd do it again.
