Swim
Comments: Felt pretty good out to the first buoy. Drafted a few. Felt out of breath after that and switched off between freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and drifting with the favorable current. What would you do differently?: Slow down a bit in the beginning to keep my own pace through the entire swim. Transition 1
Comments: No major entanglements. Futzed with bike computer. What would you do differently?: Move faster through transition (getting to bike and out of transition area). Futz with computer while on the bike. Bike
Comments: Felt good. Pushed into higher gears on the flats and descents. Passed a lot of people. Did not get passed. Transition 2
Comments: Had a little trouble with the tongue of my running shoe getting stuck. What would you do differently?: just move faster. Run
Comments: Kept a nice easy jog pace. Never had to walk. Got very hot halfway through as the sun came out. Water stop came just in time. What would you do differently?: Step up the pace a bit. Post race
Warm down: Cool shower outside at the bath house. Snacks and drinks and celebratory high 5s. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not able to swim consistent pace. New to both running and swimming. Late blooming athlete! Event comments: Well-run and organized. My first open water triathlon. I'm hooked! Last updated: 2008-07-21 12:00 AM
