Swim
Comments: The swim was brutal. I was surprised as I remember it not being so full contact. maybe because I was in the front of the pack. I got kicked one time square in the back by someone doing the breast stroke. Overall I am happy with my swim but it made me extremely sore for the rest of the race and beyond. What would you do differently?: still need to work on my breathing. But I am very happy with how I did. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Well...not having a granny gear made this course absolute torture. There are 2 huge hills on this course. I couldn't make it up either. I made it up both last year with my mountain bike. What would you do differently?: I need to change the front chain rings or this bike will not be race worthy Transition 2
Comments: Lost my spot. Couldn't find my stuff. Finally found it but it definitely cost me some time. What would you do differently?: marked my bike. familiarized myself with where I was better Run
Comments: at this point my back hurt so bad (from the swim) that every step was painful. I felt good cardio-wise on the run just had a hard time with my back. What would you do differently?: could have pushed a bit more. But overall I feel good about how I did given the circumstances. Post race
Warm down: looking around for 20min for my Dad and husband was my warmdown...It took me a while to find the food tent since they had moved it to the far corner. My back was and still is in some pain. It was hard to sit for lunch. I hope it gets better for next weekend. What limited your ability to perform faster: getting kicked Event comments: This race is great for the racers but really sucks for the spectators. For an event with so many "GO MOMMY" signs there is nothing for the kids to do. also the transitions and such are all in different places so they have to walk a lot ot get to the different points if they want to see you. My husband lugging 3 kids around didn't appreciate that very much. Last updated: 2008-07-23 12:00 AM

Had a bagel in the morning.not much else beside gatorade and water. Got to the race site at 6:50 after thunderstorms in the morning and traffic. We still weren't sure if the race was going to be held as we pulled in. They ended up postponing the race about 40 minutes.
some stretching while waiting in line for 45 minutes for the porta potty. more stretching while waiting for my wave. I was wave 17 so it seemed to take forever!!
