Run
Comments: Fairly flat course, good pavement and tucked in heavy trees to promote the lack of fresh air and provide excellant conditions for old clydesdales like me to perform projectile vomiting exercises at the completion of the race. Crossed finish line strong with shoulders back and belly in for the photo then quickly through the chute and over behind a tree to get rid of those carb laden bagels and peanut butter, yech! They were indeed better the first time. About 12 little kids were watching me, I saw them laughing as I stood up and glared at them through teary eyes. No mercy was spared for this old boy, hell their dads were posting 15-17 minute 5K times, I was literally one of those guys they had heard their dads talk about. What would you do differently?: Freakin' hot but a super race designed to post fast times. It is indeed a good race anytime you finish a race the same day you started. Post race
Warm down: Hurl, Spew, then dry heave, a bottle of Gatorade, whew, good to be back with the living. Felt energized after the race but the 4 minute hurl-fest literally knocked me back. Much better after swilling the Gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Did not take race seriously, thought I would just show up and post a 25-26 minute time and place in the Clydesdales. On a serious note, as with all events I did the best I could at the time. At the age of 51 and pushing the scales at 230 you just never know what body will show up when the gun goes off. Great race and well managed. I will take races a little more seriously in te future so that my 100% of output is truly 100%. Event comments: Super Job Mohawk 5000 race team for putting on a great event. See you next year fer sure! Last updated: 2008-07-25 12:00 AM

On the road the complete week before repairing a broke jet, no Sleep the night before. Out of bed at 0300, weigh, holly cow 229 lbs., one more pound and I could go to the top weight class.
Jog one mile and 12 trips to the port-a-potty. Hell, no swim and no bike, this should be a easy race, despite the equatorial summer weather patterns that Tulsa has been recieving of late. Literally have to carry bottled water with you to go out and pick up the daily paper, before sunrise...
