Run
Comments: I told Bob (starting two waves behind me) not to laugh at me when he passed me, he didn't! (laugh, I mean) He wished me luck, and was off like a shot. I so need to get better at running faster. What would you do differently?: Relax my posture, get in a groove faster, and lose weight! (I need to work with a coach...) Transition 1
Comments: Wasted a few seconds trying to say something funny to the lady whose bike was racked next to mine... Apparently, it wasn't funny. Oh well.... What would you do differently?: Just go! Bike
Comments: I struggled to get my feet in the toe cages, but once I got in, I got into my groove pretty quick. The new seat really helped (thanks for the inside scoop on that, Tanya!). I tried to keep a higher cadence. It was interesting to notice when I was getting fatigued and slowing down. I'd refocus, grab some water, and step it up. (sport beans are gross, by the way) There was a mob of younger girls, that I just had to get away from. It was like they were out for a Sunday ride, just chatting away, and taking up most of the road. I had to really kick TWO times to finally get away from there. Fortunately, there was a very nice lady in a red jersey, that was doing her best to cheer me on every time we swapped positions (she was much faster than I, but I was able to catch back up a couple times). The ride overall, felt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Go faster, shift better, and use a higher cadence. Transition 2
Comments: "Dude, get out of the way!" "DUDE, GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Yes, some guy was standing with his bike sideways in front of my spot in transition, and yes, I had to frickin yell at him more than once... I was irked to say the least. What would you do differently?: Yell louder. Run
Comments: My feet were very heavy when I got off the bike, and I struggled to feel what they were doing at the beginning. I also struggled with the run, had to walk for about 10-15 seconds twice, just to get things back under control What would you do differently?: Practice getting off the bike and running Post race
Warm down: Walked alot, drank water and gatorade, and ate a banana... Then went back to the finish line to cheer for Josh, Meaghen (Josh's sister), and Jude (Meaghen's husband). Suz was helping with the backup finish timing, she rocks! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of proper training, nutrition, and just lousy form Event comments: Perfect weather, and a good time. Was all very good. :) Last updated: 2008-07-25 12:00 AM

Got up, took a shower, loaded the bike and gear in the car, and Suz and I stopped over at Josh's to pick him up (he has no bike rack).
I ate a banana and a small bowl of raisin bran.
Did a few stretches, and jogged a few minutes...
