Swim
Comments: This was a PR for me. I started at the front(thanks to confidence/advice from Kathy G) I sprinted out and only breathed every 6th stroke X2. Then I settled into a pace in front. Very little contact until I approached the first bouy...then it was a mess, with people stopped and doing various strokes. I just kept my pace and continued. It lightened up a bit after the second bouy and I was able to pick up some speed and sprint in the last 100. What would you do differently?: I brought my wetsuit but left it in the car. I chose not to use it. In hind sight it would have been better to wear it. I didnt warm up because the air was cold and I was chilly. If I had my wetsuit I would have been warm and warmed up properly!!! Transition 1
Comments: This was a big improvement for me, but could have been better. I forgot to undo the velcro on my bike shoes and I fumbled trying not to get mud on my feet. What would you do differently?: Use clear plastic bags in the rain so that you can see that your shoes are not ready!!! Bike
Comments: I like this bike course. I was able to say "on your left" way too often as it was pretty crowded. I felt like I had a great ride until I turned into the park and we were single file going about 6 mph because of the crowds. This affected my overall time and speed. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Much better transition than when I did this race last year. It was hard to stay balanced to get out of bike shoes and into sneakers and not get muddy. I did it, but it probably affected my time a little. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I felt good coming off the bike. I grabbed a bag of sports beans going out. About a half mile out I attempted to eat a few..choked and had to stop for a second and cough it up. DUMB.. dont eat on a sprint!!! Saw my son cheering on the bridge" nice job ladies"....he likes to cheer. When he saw me he yelled "GO MOM she's the best Mom"...certainly gave me a little extra energy! This was the first race I have done without socks and I could feel the blisters coming on by mile two. Once I rounded the corner to the park I could really feel 'em. Overall it was a good run for me...actually its a PR for me! What would you do differently?: I most definately will wear socks on a wet course! Post race
Warm down: Helped one of my co-workers who is a newbie in T2 and cheered her on in the run. Walked around saw my family. Ate some fruit and granola bars. Talked with other racers What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited sleep the nite before. Event comments: I like this race. I love to see other women get excited about fitness and triathlons. Talked with people from NJ, Maine and CT. It was nice to see first timers finish.I live close to the race site and plan on doing it every year! Last updated: 2008-07-27 12:00 AM

I had to work the nite before. Woke up at 4:15 am after 4 hours of sleep actually feeling OK. Had coffee and a bannana and then I heard the thunder and saw the lightening.Ate some rice cakes with peanut butter. Oh well, didn't let up.. packed up and left for the race site. Got to the site and went to transition. I got a great spot and set up my area. I used one plastic bag for T1 and one for T2. It seemed to work well given the rain and mud
Walked down to the beach and ran slowly for 10 min.
